Annotation of rs7438135
Genotypes AA + AG is associated with decreased concentrations of morphine in infants as compared to genotype GG.
In preterm newborns undergoing mechanical ventilation. Those who carried the A allele had lower morphine levels at 20 minutes post intubation, as compared to those with the GG genotype. A significant association was also seen when considering the morphine-3-glucuronide:morphine metabolic ratio (p=0.005).
