In order to maximize the impact of PGRN data and publications, and to prioritize PharmGKB efforts at posting data, the PGRN expects that all publications resulting from PGRN funding will be associated with simultaneous release of the relevant data on PharmGKB. The date of publication is generally the date at which embargo of the publication contents is lifted. Ideally, data will be on the PharmGKB public site on the day of electronic release of publication, but no later than the date of hardcopy publication. In order to achieve this goal, PGRN investigators should start the process of submitting data to PharmGKB at the time of paper submission. PharmGKB staff will endeavor to have the data on preview for review by the authors. The data can be modified during the review process, if necessary. It can also be made available to reviewers, but only upon request of the authors. Once the paper is accepted, any and all final changes to submission should be made, and the date for move to the PharmGKB public site will be set in consultation with the authors. It is critical that the published paper provide the relevant PharmGKB accession number(s) in the acknowledgments section of the paper, and perhaps in the text of the manuscript as well. This accession number may be added late in the proof stage, or anytime before--at the discretion of the authors.
