Fulvestrant

Pharmacogenomic Information in the Context of the FDA-Approved Drug Label*

The FDA recommends, but does not require, genetic testing prior to initiating treatment with Fulvestrant.

Excerpts from the Fulvestrant (Faslodex) drug label:

Fulvestrant "is indicated for the treatment of hormone receptor positive metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression following antiestrogen therapy."

"Certain types of breast cancer require estrogen, a female hormone, to grow." Fulvestrant "works by blocking the effect of estrogen on certain tumors. This may slow the growth of tumors that are stimulated by estrogen."
