Dasatinib

Pharmacogenomic Information in the Context of the FDA-Approved Drug Label*

The FDA requires testing for Philadelphia chromosome-positive status and resistance or intolerance to prior therapy prior to initiating treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with dasatinib.

Excerpt from the dasatinib drug label:

"SPRYCEL is also indicated for the treatment of adults with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) with resistance or intolerance to prior therapy."

Dasatinib is a protein kinase inhibitor whose substrates include the BCR-ABL kinase encoded by the Philadelphia chromosome. Dasatinib is used to treat patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who are resistant or intolerant to other therapies, such as treatment with imatinib.
